CONCERT OVERVIEW

Join us to celebrate our boundless momentum at the season finale of our 35th Anniversary Season!

Kicking off the program is a piece by Molly Joyce, a fierce disability rights advocate.  Called one of the “most versatile, prolific and intriguing composers working under the vast new-music dome” by The Washington Post, her work Fresh references everything from high-school drumlines to an evocative quality of memory.

Anna Clyne, who served as a former Composer-in-Residence with the Chicago Symphony Orchestra, wrote the moving new cello concerto, DANCE. The 5-movement work was inspired by the poems of the Persian poet, Rumi, and the emotional depth of this powerful new work has been compared to the masterpiece, Elgars’s Cello Concerto.

During intermission, join us for a special virtual reality experience as we demonstrate new technology that allows you to feel what it's like to sit within an orchestra! Or, try your hand in our 360' photobooth for an awesome concert selfie!

And finally, closing the season is Beethoven’s Symphony No. 7 - one of Maestra Mei-Ann Chen’s personal favorites.  PLUS: Join us after the concert for a special surprise as we kick-off our next season!
