Domnica Lungu

Domnica Lungu, violinist, is a native of Romania in Eastern Europe. She graduated from the Bucharest Conservatory of Music with a Master's Degree in Performance.
She was a member of the Bucharest Sinfonietta, an all-female chamber orchestra, and performed with the Bucharest "George Enescu" Philharmonic Orchestra.

An active freelancer in the Chicago area since immigrating here with her husband more than twenty-five years ago, she is a member of the Chicago Sinfonietta, Chicago Philharmonic, Joffrey Ballet, Ravinia Festival Orchestra, and Orchestra 33 Entertainment.
Over the years, she played with most of the orchestras in the Chicago area, including the Lyric Opera of Chicago. Highlights of her career include playing with world-renowned musicians such as Itzhak Perlman, Pinchas Zuckerman, Lang-Lang, Christoph Eschenbach, Zubin Mehta, Sir Andrew Davis, Frank Sinatra, Julie Andrews, Victor Borge, Johnny Mathis, Diane Warwick and Andrea Bocelli, among others.

For ten years, she taught at the Wheaton College Conservatory and Community School of the Arts, and currently runs her own private studio. She is the recipient of the 2012 Teacher Music Inspiration Award from the Chicago Youth Symphony Orchestras.
