Warm up at a pre-concert high tea with fellow music lovers. Enjoy an elegant spread of tea sandwiches, cakes, and finger foods, alongside a hot tea and coffee bar.
Following tea, experience Open Heart — Chicago Sinfonietta’s annual Dr. Martin Luther King, Jr. Tribute Concert.
This year’s program honors Dr. Daniel Hale Williams, a Black Chicago surgeon who performed the first successful open-heart surgery in 1893 — the same year Dvořák’s “From the New World” premiered.
You’ll also hear the world premiere of Kathryn Bostic’s The Supremes at Earl’s All-You-Can-Eat, Joel Thompson’s moving tribute to Breonna Taylor, and Dvořák’s powerful symphonic finale.
